Parenting Support

Strengthen Connection. Feel More Grounded. Support Your Child’s Growth.

Parenting is profoundly meaningful — and profoundly complex.
It invites us to love deeply, to show up consistently, and to navigate highs, lows, and everything in between.

It also stirs our nervous systems, evokes our histories, and touches parts of us we didn’t know were there.

If parenting feels overwhelming, confusing, exhausting, or disconnected at times… you are not alone.
None of this means you’re a bad parent — it means you’re human.

Parenting support offers a space to understand your child, understand yourself, and cultivate a more secure and connected relationship at home.

I work with parents in Nelson, BC and online throughout British Columbia, integrating attachment-based therapy, practical coaching, and nervous system understanding to help you show up with more clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Attachment: A Powerful Lens for Parenting

The most well-established and evidence-supported framework we have for understanding human development is attachment science.

Attachment research tells us:

  • Humans are wired for connection.
  • Children learn who they are — and how safe the world is — through their caregivers.
  • What matters most isn’t perfection; it’s relationship and repair.

This lens helps us understand:

  • why children behave the way they do
  • how to respond in ways that create emotional safety
  • how our own early experiences shape us as parents
  • why we sometimes feel triggered, overwhelmed, or unsure

Rather than focusing on behaviour alone, attachment-informed parenting looks beneath the surface to the needs, emotions, and signals a child is expressing.

This work draws on attachment principles taught and researched by leading clinicians and theorists — including the approaches of Sue Johnson (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and Gordon Neufeld (attachment-focused child development) — incorporated here through my own training, integration, and experience.

Therapy + Practical Coaching

Parenting is both inner work and outer work.
It involves tending to your emotional world and organizing the daily realities of family life.

My approach blends:

  • Attachment-based counselling (EFIT, IFS, Coherence Therapy)
  • Practical, action-oriented coaching grounded in over a decade as a Certified Co-Active Coach (CTI)

This means we explore:

  • your emotional patterns
  • your nervous system responses
  • the messages you learned about caregiving and love
  • how your own early experiences show up in parenting

AND
We also get concrete:

  • building routines and rhythms that support connection
  • co-parenting communication strategies
  • conflict navigation
  • values-based decision making
  • problem-solving around challenging moments
  • time and energy management for parents

You leave sessions with both insight and practical tools.

Why Attachment Matters

Attachment science gives us a roadmap for parenting — not by prescribing rigid rules, but by showing us what children need to thrive:

  • emotional safety
  • attuned presence
  • room for feelings
  • boundaries that protect and guide
  • connection and repair

When children feel safe with their caregivers, they explore, learn, and form healthy identities.
And when things go wrong — as they sometimes do — repair is what matters most.

This framework helps you:

  • respond rather than react
  • understand your child’s signals
  • navigate emotional storms
  • hold boundaries with warmth
  • trust that you don’t need to be perfect

Attachment-informed therapy supports both parent and child in feeling more secure, confident, and connected.

Who I Support

This work is helpful if you:

  • feel overwhelmed or reactive
  • want to build stronger connection with your child
  • notice behaviour patterns that are hard to shift
  • want parenting to feel less stressful
  • hope to parent differently than you were parented
  • are navigating separation, blended families, or big transitions
  • struggle with co-parenting
  • want more calm and clarity at home

Whether the challenges are emotional, relational, or practical — we navigate them together.

What We Explore Together

Our work may include:

  • deepening emotional attunement with your child
  • understanding attachment needs + signals
  • supporting secure connection through presence + repair
  • exploring your own attachment history + triggers
  • working IFS-style with overwhelmed or protective parts
  • using EFIT to support emotional expression + responsiveness
  • using Coherence Therapy to update old emotional learnings
  • applying practical strategies for daily life and routines
  • building a parenting vision rooted in your values

The goal is not to parent “perfectly,” but to show up more authentically, compassionately, and confidently.

What You Might Gain

Parents often describe:

  • feeling more resourced + calm
  • fewer power struggles
  • deeper emotional connection with children
  • more confidence + clarity
  • less guilt or self-judgment
  • easier co-parenting communication

  • a home environment that feels safe + supportive

When parents feel supported, children flourish.
