Counselling & Coaching in person in Nelson, BC and online.

I practice Coherence Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT for couples & EFIT for individuals), several of the most effective, evidence-based approaches for lasting change and emotional transformation.

These humanistic, experiential models go beyond symptom management, helping to uncover and erase old emotional patterns that no longer serve you. While no one can promise results in counselling, I have seen these modalities change lives in profound ways.

I utilize a biopsychosocial approach to mental health and personal growth, helping you understand how the biological, psychological, and social components of life intersect and interact. Our mental and physical health is shaped by this complex web of influences—our body, our mind, our relationships, and the societal structures we live within. By exploring these interconnections, I help you develop a holistic understanding of your well-being and how these factors can impact your emotional and physical health.

Counselling has been a significant part of my own life. From a young age to middle age, counselling has helped me grow, evolve, and face all aspects of myself with courage and compassion. This lifelong engagement with counselling informs my belief that everyone should have access to it as a regular part of life, not just in times of crisis. Counselling allows us to explore the many layers of who we are and helps us face our challenges more clearly, grow as people, and find our power.

I offer coaching and counselling and a unique blend of both that creates a synergistic effect beyond the benefits of just one approach. This methodology is flexible and adaptable to your specific circumstances. It can provide the tools for forward-looking goal achievement and the emotional insight needed for healing and lasting change. It empowers you to cultivate deep self-awareness, uncover the underlying causes of behavioural patterns and habits that hinder your life, and institute new ways of thinking, behaving and relating that unlock your full potential.

 

My Approach to Counselling

As a counsellor, I focus on helping you heal, gain emotional insight, and work through past or present challenges you may be facing. You might come to me during a time of psychological distress when you’re dealing with emotional difficulties or navigating mental health issues like anxiety, depression, or trauma. The therapeutic counselling process is designed to resolve emotional pain, heal past wounds, and help you develop coping strategies to manage life’s difficulties.

My work focuses on helping people identify and transform patterns, habits, and unconscious thoughts that may have once been adaptive responses to stressors and traumas in life but have become maladaptive over time. These learned behaviours, while once necessary for survival, can start to undermine your health, relationships, and self-understanding. Together, we can work to unearth these deep-rooted patterns and replace them with healthier ways of thinking and being that serve your overall mental and physical health.

I aim to help you achieve tangible, measurable, and lasting change by combining these experiential, depth-oriented, frameworks. This holistic approach allows us to address the full complexity of your experiences, offering deep emotional healing and fostering personal growth.

Given the right conditions, I believe you have the inherent capacity for self-healing and personal growth. My primary focus is to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you feel safe and empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. To make the coaching process even more impactful, I incorporate proven techniques, creative exercises, and out-of-the-box approaches to stimulate your thinking and help you move beyond your comfort zone. By pushing the boundaries of your perspective, we open new possibilities and insights that lead to more profound personal growth and achievement.

Coaching with me is primarily future-focused. We’ll look ahead, set a vision, and create a plan for positive changes in your life. While we acknowledge the past, our sessions will emphasize where you want to go and the steps needed to get there.

My Approach to Consulting

As a consultant, I work with leaders, boards, and organizations to create clarity, alignment, and forward momentum. You may come to me when your organization is at an inflection point—seeking a clearer vision, stronger governance, better systems, or a more cohesive strategy. My role is to help you think deeply, plan intentionally, and build structures that support long-term effectiveness and impact.

My consulting work is grounded in the belief that organizations, like individuals, are living systems. They are shaped by relationships, culture, leadership patterns, financial realities, and the broader social context in which they operate. When something feels misaligned—whether it is strategy, structure, communication, or execution—it is rarely just a technical problem. It is usually a systems issue.

I bring nearly three decades of experience leading for-profit, nonprofit, and cooperative organizations, along with deep experience in governance, executive leadership, financial oversight, and organizational development. I have worked with boards to strengthen governance practices, clarify roles, design committee structures, and improve strategic oversight. I have supported leaders in developing clear strategic and operational plans, building financial models, and aligning teams around shared goals.

My approach combines visioning and strategic thinking with practical implementation. Together, we can clarify mission and direction, develop strategic and operational plans, strengthen governance frameworks, design accountability systems, and create financial models that support sustainability. I pay attention not only to what you are building, but how you are building it—ensuring your structures align with your values, culture, and long-term aspirations.
